Today’s highlights: Oil hits 6-week high
- Oil could reach $60: Following the appointment of Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman as Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister, oil prices yesterday climbed around 2%, as the Prince is known to be an advocate of the ongoing OPEC production cut. Oil continued to rise this morning, climbing above the $58 mark and hitting a 6-week high.
- Johnson loses another vote: UK PM Boris Johnson yesterday suffered another defeat in Parliament, as his bid to hold a snap election lost by a substantial margin. In response, the British PM suspended Parliament for 5 weeks. However, Johnson might still ask the EU for another extension of the Brexit deadline, giving more time for an agreement between the UK and the Union to be reached.
- Apple to unveil new iPhone today: The American tech giant will today unveil its newest flagship smartphone, the iPhone 11, at a press event at Cupertino, CA.
